📋 Scheme Overview

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) provides affordable crop insurance to West Bengal farmers against losses from natural calamities — floods, cyclones (Amphan, Yaas), drought, hailstorm, pest infestation, and post-harvest damage. West Bengal's flood-prone districts and coastal vulnerability make this scheme critical. Farmers pay a minimal premium (2% for Kharif, 1.5% for Rabi) while the central and state government pay the rest.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • All farmers growing notified crops in notified areas of West Bengal
  • Both loanee farmers (enrolled automatically) and non-loanee farmers (voluntary)
  • Sharecroppers and tenant farmers eligible with proper land lease documents
  • Applicable for Kharif (Aman, Aus rice, Jute) and Rabi (Boro rice, Wheat, Mustard) crops

🎁 Benefits & Features

  • Crop loss compensation at Sum Insured (based on district-wise threshold yield)
  • Premium: 2% for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi crops, 5% for commercial/horticultural crops
  • Government pays remaining 90%+ premium
  • Compensation via direct bank transfer within 60 days of loss assessment
  • Coverage: prevented sowing, mid-season adversity, post-harvest losses, and localized calamities

📝 How to Apply — Step by Step
